Vonny Cooney Diary

Dear Diary,

Frances is such an idiot, she didn’t know where babies come from. Who would think that babies come from Gracie. Bros. She should know, she sits up the back with all the other geeks and nerds. My teacher hit me again because I didn’t know how to say ‘the’. She never gives me a chance, I try my hardest and all I get is a slap over the face. She doesn’t even try to teach me how to read, not like that other student teacher that came in. I tried to teach Daffy to read. Teaching him to read I hope will help him to speak properly and not get made fun of by other people. I really wish I could read properly, everyone makes fun of it.

Ski Camp

Year 9 Ski camp was a truly amazing experience. It would probably have to be the best school camp I’ve been on. Never in my life had I actually seen snow let alone ski, so this was a completely new experience for me. First arriving at the snow on day 2, I was very excited, even though the skiing shoes were digging into my legs with every step. I got on the chair lift, and when I got off at the other side, I fell over in a painful position and slid along a couple of metres. The first two days in the snow (out of 3) weren’t that good, as I was like an “octopus”, I couldn’t do much. It was only of the final day that I finally got the hang of it, and it was a lot of fun. I went down an actual hill that day. The worst part was when we had to stop skiing, and go back down to the buses, the last time we would ski that week. Back at the resort, the cabins were good, some cabins were better than others, sometimes a lot better. Meals were all free except the last night when we had a barbeque, all of the meals tasted good. We finally took the 3 hour bus trip home.

Year 9 Physical Program response

The Year 9 physical challenge program in the first term of '09 was a lot of fun and brought many benefits. The program teaches us what we can accomplish physically while extending those boundaries. It makes the lazy students become fitter, all of this in a positive environment. Students push themselves outside of their usual comfort zones, and shows them what they can really do if they put their minds to it. It didn't matter how tiring it got, the program was always fun to be a part of. It also stopped us from kicking down lockers and beating each other up, since we were tired. Those that move into year 9 are faced with this challenge, have a lot of fun and learn a few things a long the way.

Peaceful Warrior Response

The Peaceful Warrior movie was as enjoyable as it was educational. There was many fun and dramatic moments in the movie that made it nice to watch. It also sent a strong message to viewers. Don't let your ego and fears get in the way of your dreams, just focus on the moment in front of you. There are also some very good quotes that come out of the movie such as "The journey is what brings us happiness - not the destination." There are some symbolic scenes while watching that are very well done. For example, one scene depicts the main character about to jump off a high tower. Someone is standing on the same tower, acting all arrogant and fearless as this person is doing flips and cartwheels right on the edge. He turns around, and the main character finds himeself looking at his own face. He drops this man off the tower, and this symbolises him letting go of his ego. And thus explaining the movie and its contents.

Urban Adventures Description

Homelessness in Melbourne, you wouldn't think much of it. During our short time in the city, one man showed us what was really happening behind the scenes. That man is Tim. He only took us up a street and down an alleyway, but we had learnt so much. He taught us about his 'soup kitchen', though he doesn't like to call it that. It is called 'Urban Seed'. He told us some very moving stories about some of the people that come into the building just to get a little to eat. Tim dressed in a strange way that some people would find unacceptable. He had some cool dreadlocks, tied up with his own hair, a nice jacket and some old trousers. The experience at 'Urban Seed' was a memorable one, and you leave with a lot.

Movie Quote Paragraph

"Emotions musn't control you" From the movie 'Peaceful Warrior', this is not just a simple statement. What it really means is that you must not let an emotion such as anger, affect your judgement of the situation. Imagine you were a school student, and you've jsut woken up in a bad mood. 'Gee I hate school, there's so much homework, I'm going to pull a sickie'. Anger is changing your judgement, and you're not looking at it seriously. You could end up getting into deep trouble. Therefore creating a worse scenario then if you went to school. So you shouldn't let an emotion control you.

Sonnet

That good feeling that goes through the body.
It brings you up when you are feeling down.
It will protect you from feeling shoddy.
It will improve your look like a nice gown.
If you are about to become sadder,
It will always find away to come back.
No one could ever get any madder.
That great feeling that many people lack.
Allows you to laugh when things are funny.
Laugh at all those miserable people,
Only becoming happy with money,
A lot of them are just businesspeople.
This feeling is opposite of sadness,
This very good feeling is happiness.
